MMA Rankings for January 2010

Feels like aaaages since I last updated the rankings. I think its probably because I did them pretty early in December and then had to wait for Strike Forces show on the last weekend of January. Very few moves this month, surprisingly. Most likely because the two UFC shows didnt feature that many ranked fighters.

Movements: I ended up moving Junior Dos Santos above both Shane Carwin and Brett Rogers on the cumulative strength of his wins over Werdum, Struve, Cro Cop and Yvel. Its now been over six months since Andrei Arlovski competed so Ill probably bounce him from the rankings next month unless we hear that hes signed with someone, although who will end up replacing him I dont know.

Movements: No movements this month as only Silva and Evans fought with that result not really affecting anything. February has Keith Jardine fighting Ryan Bader which could prove to be important.

Movements: Robbie Lawler moves back into the rankings with his win over Melvin Manhoef, as it was mainly inactivity that caused him to move out in the first place. Akiyama really needs to fight ASAP in order to retain his ranking as, like Lightweight, 185lbs is a split division with the talent spread throughout a few organizations. February sees Marquardt face Sonnen in the divisions big fight.

Movements: Paul Daley beat Dustin Hazelett to retain his ranking while Martin Kampmann beat Jacob Volkmann, meaning no movements this month. Looking forward to Swick-Thiago in February, while March has Alves-Fitch, Saunders-Kampmann and Hardy-GSP.

Movements: I moved Diego Sanchez out of the rankings as hes officially moving back to 170lbs now. Everyone else moves up one and Tatsuya Kawajiri returns to the tenth spot as really, theres nobody else that has been active and winning. Takanori Gomi could shoot right to the top if he beats Kenny Florian in March.

Movements: Urijah Faber beat Raphael Assuncao to set up a huge match between him and Jose Aldo some time in 2010, but hes still behind Mike Brown rankings-wise. Deividas Taurosevicius beat Mackens Semerzier though to debut in the rankings while Wagnney Fabiano is now officially a Bantamweight.
